Farewell, Beauty
It is with shock and deep sadness that we announce the death of Savannah CC. A normally robust and healthy mare, she became suddenly ill as we were flying to Belgium to attend the 2012 Egyptian Event Europe. Just as we deplaned in Brussels we received a frantic call from staff that she was in trouble, and she collapsed and died minutes later with her veterinarian franticly working to save her. Although autopsy results were inconclusive, our only explanation is that the cause may have been hypocalcaemia, a rare condition in heavily nursing mares. Her three week-old filly by Hadidi was unharmed and is doing well. As many of you have experienced, this has been a terrible emotional loss. Savannah was a sensitive, honest, and exquisitely beautiful mare whose champions world-wide put us on the map. We will forever miss her and be grateful for the outstanding children she gave the Egyptian community. May her vibrant beauty live on in them. |
Egyptian Event Reserve Champion, World Class Yearling Fillies, Savannah CC is sired by Reserve National Champion Thee Desperado and is out of a daughter of the acclaimed Bint Magidaa. This mare is a beautiful stand-up package of exceptional elegance and stretch and has consistently shown her ability to pass on her own special look to her foals. Already well known in show and breeding circles, we fully expect this mare to become one of North America’s leading matrons of the Straight Egyptian. Savannah is dam to International Champion Nader al Jamal (TS Atlanta) and Egyptian Event Futurity Champion Al Bahir, as well as the beautiful females Dianaah, and TS Vivien Leigh. Taking it to the next level, Savannah now carries what may be her best yet to come. In foal to the towering white classic, World Champion Hadidi, she foals in Spring 2012. Reserving this foal would be a smart move.
